Varanasi was created by Lord Shiva, Who is the Lord of Destruction and Salvation. Previously, known as Kashi also is a renowned place which has some footprints of Gautam Buddha. This place is considered as one of the most sacred place of the Hindus as it is carrying many remarkable testimonies of the religion.

The land of Varanasi (Kashi) has been the famous pilgrimage spot for Hindus for ages. The holy city is situated on the banks of the river Ganges in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Ganges in Varanasi is believed to have the power to wash away the sins of mortals. Often referred to as Benares, Varanasi is the oldest living city in the world. It is said to be the abode of Lord Shiva and Parvati.

Varanasi not only is a sacred place but also has good credits on art and literature in it. This city has produced some of the prevalent writers of Hindi Literature to be named as Ravidas, Tulsidas and Kabir. Prominent writers like Munshi Premchand, Acharya Shukla, Jaishankar Prasad, Baldev Upadhyay, Sudama Pandey are also from this city who made our Indian Literature richer.

Famous Indian Classical dancers like Pandit Kishan Maharaj, Sitara Devi, Gopi Krishna and music maestros like Rajan and Sajan Mishra, Bismillah Khan, Girija Devi and made our India and the city equally proud through their impeccable contribution in Indian Classical music. Apart from the music and literature the city has a number of museums to be named as JantarMantar, Bharat Kala Bhawan and Archeological Museums are indeed great tourist attractions.

Banaras Hindu University (BHU) which is one of the prestigious universities in this country situated in this city. It has 140 faculties and near about 25000 students in it. The Faculty of Management Studies (FMS) and Medical Science (MS) is one of the prestigious departments and high ranked colleges in the country.
